It‘s obvious that some of our youth are constantly challenged by so many distractions such as sexual promiscuity, teenage pregnancy, juvenile delinquency, substance and alcohol abuse, anger, violence, suicide, and ultimately dropping out of school.
Though I was pursuing a successful career in real estate, the call for the youth became so apparent to me that in 1998 I founded We Are The Future Inc.,(WATF). It stems from the Bible, Psalm 127:3a, which says, “…children are an heritage of the Lord” (NKV). And yes, He has a bright future for them.
My dream is that we’ll see our youth coming out of the shadows of confusion and self-doubt into the light of personal self-achievement.
I applaud academics, but also I believe in this unique social development training that is important for our youth. At WATF we provide this training in three programs:
1) T.R.A.Y. ™ (Be Thankful, Respectful, Appreciative and of Yourself) It focuses on character development, manners, etiquette, and social graces.
2) T.A.P.S ™(Think And Play Scrabble®) It teaches 40 ways to enhance education through the game Scrabble® through a hands-on process and interactions with other youth.
3) The Family Connection® TV Game Show – A Telly Awrard Finalist and an innovative one half hour television programming featuring youth ages 10-18 years old competing for scholarships and other prizes for correct answers in current events and academics etc. that involve parents, guardians, teachers or ministers and other mentors as their support lifelines. In order to further convey my passion concerning the BRIGHT FUTURE of our youth, I have written a song just for them entitled “We Are The Future.” This song has only been played by local radio stations in SC and Africa.
